About Jacob

Why I started Vitalis.

My name is Jacob. I’m a certified health coach and independent researcher on a mission to help people learn the skill of health, so they can live more vital lives.

But I didn’t always think of health as a skill.

It started with an injury.

Before I fractured my back, I was a young athlete with a goal of playing college football. After the injury, something changed. My energy disappeared, my libido dropped, and brain fog crept in. The drive I’d had for football and for life began to fade.

I went to doctors and specialists looking for an explanation. I kept hearing that my bloodwork looked normal and I was probably fine.

So I began learning about health and living what I thought was a healthy life. I ate well, trained hard, and pushed through. I eventually achieved my goal of playing college football, but my health continued to decline.

Another injury required surgery. During that time, I reflected on what I wanted and decided to make a change. I stepped away from football, finished my degree back home, and focused on figuring out what was happening to my health.

I kept trying things without understanding why.

Different diets. Fasting. Detoxes. Supplements. Protocols. I tried almost everything.

But I was constantly doing things I’d been told were healthy without really understanding the reasoning. I knew what I’d read or been advised to do, but not much more.

The brain fog eventually became so thick that some days I could hardly think, let alone pursue the life I wanted to build.

Then one doctor told me something I’ll never forget: “I don’t have the time to help you.”

That sentence changed the direction of my life. I knew I needed to understand my health for myself.

I needed to understand my body.

I started studying physiology, metabolism, cellular energy production, nutrition, hormones, and the immune system. I began investigating what might be happening instead of blindly moving to the next protocol.

Eventually, testing revealed signs of autoimmune disease, and I later received a diagnosis of lupus. For the first time, I had a clearer explanation for what I’d been experiencing.

The diagnosis also raised questions. Why had my body reached this state? What could I do to support my health?

As I studied how the body produces and uses energy, many of the symptoms that had seemed disconnected began to make more sense. I finally had a framework for making decisions and asking better questions.

What I gained was ownership.

After years of struggling, studying, experimenting, and rebuilding, I began feeling better than I had in a long time.

I learned to question what I was doing, understand the reasoning, make informed decisions, and adapt when circumstances changed.

That is what I mean when I say health is a skill.

Health is a skill.

That experience shaped what I want people to gain from Vitalis.

I want to help you improve the conditions that support energy, function, and recovery—but I also want you to understand the changes you’re making and why they matter.

You shouldn’t leave coaching dependent on me, locked into a rigid protocol, or searching for the next person who claims to have the answer. You should leave with a clearer understanding of how nutrition, digestion, hormones, sleep, movement, lifestyle, environment, and cellular energy relate to your health—and the practical skills to use that understanding.

That is health independence: being able to evaluate advice, recognize your body’s feedback, and make informed decisions without jumping from one trend or supplement to the next.

What you learn should continue serving you long after our work together ends.
